Kabira Stokes-Hochberg
The Truth About... Your Vote As co-founder of the Young Progressive Majority (YPM), a social network dedicated to increasing young voter turnout for local and state elections, Kabira seeks to demystify politics and make it more accessible the young artists and professionals of Los Angeles (and beyond). YPM educates about local issues and candidates through comprehensive and accessible voter guides, and at YPM events and parties. Kabira is currently working as a Program Assistant for the Oscar Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress is San José, Costa Rica. Previous to that she served as a Field Representative and Arts Deputy for Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti. She worked with community groups and individual constituents to improve the quality of life and public safety in two Northeast LA neighborhoods. Before working for the City, Kabira was the Outreach Coordinator for the Robert Greenwald documentary, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price." And before that, Kabira owned and operated a custom fashion design company. Design was indeed her trade, but it turned out that being a big civic geek is her calling. Kabira has been a proud resident of Los Angeles since the beginning of the millennium. She graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Spanish, and has studied in the United Kingdom and Ecuador. Kabira hails from Philadelphia, PA.
